Beijing enhances its cooperation and communication with other countries and districts in the areas of economy, trade, science and technology, education and culture, the communication between government and social groups are friendly active, and it also has formed a layout with multi-aspect and multi-level opening-up in a wide range of areas. By now, Beijing has set up friendship relations with 27 countries and 31 cities. There are over 26,000 students from foreign countries. Beijing had successfully held the 11th Asian games, the 4th world women’s federation, the 21st world university games. Since 1998, Beijing have been successfully held grand international fairs in the name of high-tech industry—Beijing international hi-tech week. 

In 2005, the total value of customs imports and exports reached USD 125.57 billion in Beijing, among which exports was USD 30.87 billion. The foreign capital actually used USD 3.53 billion.
